Life is creativity. It teaches me to be noble.
- Noble Richardson -
There is a meditative space inside Noble Richardson’s artistic process he is humbly acquainted with; a feeling that is naturally articulated through his artistic expression.
“I see this moment as the truest foundation an artist can come to discover, realize, or accept. As a professional it is a certainty that this experience is always present in my work.”
Noble’s artwork carries the fingerprint of who he is, along with the strengths of the community he was born in, lived through, and continues to raise his family. It’s the bedrock of what his foundation was chiseled from, and the heartbeat of his artistic pulse.
Noble has always recognized his artistic experiences through his earliest memories, and as an artist he reveres those experiences equally as important as any of the accolades or degrees he has obtained throughout his life. Every experience is equally encouraging within his kuleana as a Maui artist.
“My work is heavily influenced by Hawaiian values and culture that continuously shapes me as an artist and as a human being.”
He created E.H.A. (Endemic Hawai'i Artists) Murals to amplify and aid the need for sourcing Local Hawai'i artists. E.H.A. Murals continues to be a creative source for Maui's cultural connection between the people of our community, and its economic growth, alongside foreign and local entities. E.H.A. Murals carries nearly a decade of public art relationships with worldly skillsets accumulated from multiple mentorships gathered from collegiate degrees, and other highly disciplined programs and lifestyles. Alongside these mentors are experiences of traditions and skillsets shared with Noble Richardson by professors, professional artists, colleagues, and community leaders.
“Art is a powerful tool and the role of public art in Hawai’i communities should be seen in a delicate and due diligent approach by every entity involved throughout the process of any event. It is a process I am sensitive to, and a naturally beloved connection that involves the community of Maui and Hawai’i as a whole.
When Public art isn’t involving the kokua of campus students or volunteers, Noble Richardson is an art instructor for many local programs and schools. He is part of several currently running art residencies that range from focused weekly camps at Hui Malama, to summer intensive programs at UH Maui, and semester long after school programs at Liliuokalani Trust, while maintaining Wailuku Elementary’s art program instructing all grades and students.
“Sharing artistic knowledge with students channels the same levels of passion I resonate through any of my creative and professional placemaking for the artistic spirit. The influence of Hawai’i culture is woven within every program I instruct because it is an organic compound of my make up. Every organization and event are structured to cultivate creativity, and to sustain nourishment for the artistic spirit of the viewer and student.
